Shock the system…

The Virgin London Marathon 2013, really? Am turning 40 on the 05th of April so just 16 days after turning old (well..), I’m going for this, is this my midlife crisis? Think I rather have a midlife crisis where I buy a Harley and start wearing a toupee instead πŸ™‚ When my company sent out the email that they had a few places left I said yes straight away, after thinking about it for 10 minutes my brain realised what I just had agreed to, my body was still in denial so it had no clue what was happening. I just said yes to run 40 km or 25 miles in 2 months time!

On Saturday I went down to the pub with my body and brain to so that I could break it gently for my body. He was slightly upset at the proposition of going for runs but after a few beers he justΒ didn’tΒ care anymore so he lost out on the battle.

But this is great though, have always wanted to do the full marathon (Editors note: que?? When?? Really??) so this is a great opportunity to see if I will survive this ordeal.

So got my schedules sorted for this week, start the morning runs for 15 minutes the first week and then increase 10 minutes next and so on…

    • wow 3… mighty impressed mate… not of you but of your GF, does she want to come to London and be my personal trainer πŸ™‚ need all the help I can get. LOL

      • Ahhh DUDE, she’s retired from marathons for the time being. Sides do you really think I would trust a horn dog like you with her lady bits!!

Good luck with the training, start walking 12 miles a day pronto!!

      • Lol… Ah bless u, protect yr lady from the swedes πŸ™‚ been running now every morning and then a cigarette at the finish line to celebrate my healthy life style hihih

  1. Keep up the practice. Maybe get someone who knows to look at your style. Some of us were not meant to run. I still use my knees everyday and you will need your knees too. It makes me tired just to think about it. Phillip

PS Know where pride becomes false pride.

  2. Try again; issues with my wife’s machine and who I am.

I can’t run around the block! I am too old, too heavy and unmotivated. Additionally my knees aren’t so hot. You should do fine with a little tune up, but you should remember the difference between pride and hubris. You will need your knees in the future. Phillip (eggsuckingpup)

    • think it’s a lot of hubris in this for me but also more to prove that I can do it and rather do it now when I still have time and easier to recover if any injury would happen. Was meant to do it last year but fell through so now when I got my 2nd chance I just grab it by the balls and took it… but yes, started practicing now both running and also physio… but as for you not running around the block, believe that if a good looking girl would run past you, you would be off and chasing πŸ˜€

  3. Run, run, run. You can do it. Want a video of you crossing the finish line. πŸ™‚ Hey, your bday is two days after mine. I’ll be 45. Believe me, 40 isn’t fatal. It’s only the beginning…

  4. How are your knees? I had a friend who ran until his toenails turned black and fell out. If that
doesn’t happen, then you need more training. Phil. Eggsuckingpup
